Research

The University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital is dedicated to bringing the latest diagnostic and treatment practices to our young patients. Our pediatric urologist is currently studying alternative methods of bladder augmentation. This is the surgery that some children require to make their bladder larger and more elastic. Traditional methods of bladder augmentation can lead to problems of infection, bladder stones, or abnormalities in blood chemistry. This innovative research may eventually allow us to build better bladders more safely, avoiding complications that occur with traditional methods.
