Hormonal disorders can be difficult to detect and treat in children and adolescents. We can help. Pediatric endocrinologists at the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital are experts in a wide range of hormonal problems in young people.

We provide comprehensive management of conditions, including:

  • Growth hormone deficiency and other growth problems
  • Early or delayed puberty
  • Menstrual irregularities in teens
  • Thyroid dysfunction
  • Metabolic bone disease
  • Turner's syndrome
  • Klinefelter's syndrome
  • Ambiguous genitalia
  • Male breast development
  • Hirsutism or excessive hair growth
  • Obesity

Working with your child's pediatrician, we can devise an individualized treatment plan for your child or teen.

Comprehensive Diabetes Care

For 20 years, the Chicago Children's Diabetes Center has helped young people with all types of diabetes, including rare and difficult to treat forms of the disease. Our pediatric diabetes experts provide holistic, family-centered care for more than 800 children with diabetes. Our multidisciplinary care team can devise plans to manage diabetes, which may include dietary changes, exercise, medicine, and weight loss.

Weight Management

If your child suffers from severe weight problems, our "Fit Matters" program can help. This team-based program teaches children how to change their behaviors so they can lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. Other weight-loss programs are available and can be customized to meet your child's needs.

Working with your child's pediatrician, we can monitor your child's progress and help him or her manage weight over the long term.
