Diabetes is a growing problem that has gained national attention in recent years. Health experts are especially concerned about the escalating numbers of children and teens with type 2 diabetes, also known as adult-onset diabetes. Today, about one-third of children with diabetes have type 2 diabetes.

More than two decades ago, University of Chicago doctors decided to focus their efforts on treating diabetes in children and teens. For over 20 years, our experts have helped young people with all types of diabetes, including rare forms of the disease. Children and teens with diabetes also can receive care at an outpatient diabetes clinic at the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine.
