Why Choose Us for Cystic Fibrosis Care?
Our team provides state-of-the-art care to adult and pediatric cystic fibrosis patients and their families.
CF: More Than a Lung Problem
Our physicians and staff are experts in the treatment of cystic fibrosis as well as many conditions that are associated with cystic fibrosis, including:
- Asthma and allergies
- Diabetes
- Sinus problems
- Nutritional deficiencies
- Digestive and liver problems
We can help design a treatment strategy that helps prevent such complications or minimize their effect on a patient's health and well-being.
In addition, we provide a smooth, seamless transition of care of adolescent and young adult patients to our adult cystic fibrosis program, which is located in the same medical center and shares some of the same staff. One of the center's physicians--who is trained in internal medicine, pediatrics, and pediatric and adult pulmonary medicine--treats pediatric and adult CF patients. Because we provide care to children as well as adults, we can provide a long-term disease management strategy that will serve young patients well into adulthood.
Studying CF
Recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of cystic fibrosis have improved CF care for children and adults. Our team has been involved in numerous research studies to evaluate promising treatments, and our doctors have participated in national research conferences on cystic fibrosis.
In addition, as a teaching institution, we are committed to educating healthcare providers on the care of patients with cystic fibrosis across the lifespan.
Support for Families Fighting CF
To help patients manage their condition over the long term, we offer a number of family education programs and events throughout the year. Our staff helps coordinate Chicago's annual CF Awareness day and also produces a regular newsletter for families affected by CF.
