Children's Advisory Board
Created in 2004, the Children's Advisory Board provides children ages 6 to 10 with an opportunity to offer their perspective to hospital leadership.
The goals of the board are to:
- Keep children's issues at the forefront of the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital
- Empower the voices of school-age children
- Discuss issues that are important to children during hospitalization, outpatient, and/or emergency room visits
- Guarantee the environment is "kid-friendly"
Some ideas the children have shared include:
"My dream hospital would have a lava lamp for when they turn off the lights. It gives you something colorful to look at, so you won't be afraid of the dark."-- Alondra, age 6
"What I like about the hospital is the playroom!"--Selena, age 6
"What I like about the hospital is when my mom gets to stay with me."--Alisha, age 6
