Just for Teens: The Teen Room

Teenagers need privacy and independence. They also want to stay in touch with friends while in the hospital. To help meet these needs, the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital has a fully dedicated private space just for patients and siblings ages 11 to 18 years old.

The Teen Room includes:

  • A CD jukebox
  • Arcade games
  • A pool/foosball/hockey table
  • A 42-inch plasma screen TV with age-appropriate video games
  • A computer
  • Board games

Our staff hosts daily teen activities during the afternoon or evening hours. The special evening groups, called "Teen Night," provide teens with the opportunity to cook dinner and/or desserts, watch movies, and share their experiences. Many activities help teens express their feelings in a safe environment.
