Child Life and Family Education

Every child reacts differently to an illness. When at the hospital, some children may feel isolated and sad in this unfamiliar place. Others may miss their families, friends, and daily activities.

At the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital, we understand that you and your family are going through a difficult time, and we want to help. We'll do our best to prevent your child's hospitalization from interrupting his or her childhood. Our caring, compassionate child life specialists will work with you and your child, along with your healthcare team, to ease stress and help your child understand his or her illness and treatments so that your family can feel more comfortable at the hospital.
