Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago named among 'America's Best' by U.S.News & World Report

Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago has again ranked in the 2010 edition of America’s Best Children’s Hospitals, to be published in U.S.News & World Report.
This is the third year in a row that Comer Children's Hospital has appeared on the U.S. News survey. The magazine lists the 30 top-ranked hospitals in 10 specialties. Comer Children's Hospital is ranked in three pediatric specialties: endocrine and diabetes (#21); neurology and neurosurgery (#24); and neonatal care, the care of critically ill or very premature newborns (#26).
The methodology behind this year’s rankings weighed a three-part blend of reputation, outcome, and care-related measures such as nursing care, advanced technology, credentialing, and other factors. The reputation score is based on a combination of opinions from pediatric specialists about the hospitals they would recommend for the sickest children and data gathered in a 75-page survey covering important medical information ranging from surgical death rates to whether pediatric anesthesiologists and other sub specialists are on the staff. A detailed description of the methodology can be found at www.usnews.com/childrenshospitals.
The rankings are posted on http://www.usnews.com/childrenshospitals and will be published in the August issue of U.S.News & World Report, available on newsstands July 27.
