Using a unique combination of focus groups and surveys, Dr. Gilliam found that a sense of personal control influences Latinas' decisions about sexual debut. Read more. Focusing on pregnancy prevention, Dr. Gilliam studied various birth control methods and found that the ring edges out the pill in compliance among college women.
