John Marcinak, MDAssociate Professor of PediatricsMedical Director, Pediatric and Adolescent HIV ProgramDr. John Marcinak specializes in the evaluation, diagnosis and management of pediatric patients with infectious diseases. He is an expert in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). As medical director of the Pediatric and Adolescent HIV Program at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital, Dr. Marcinak supervises a team of experts that provides comprehensive medical and social care to HIV exposed infants and HIV infected infants, children and adolescents. This program offers the newest treatment options for young people with HIV. Additionally, Dr. Marcinak offers medical evaluations, immunizations and preventive and post-travel care for children and families in the International Adoption Clinic. Dr. Marcinak’s research interests include the study of infants born to mothers who have HIV infection, as well as children and adolescents with HIV infection. These studies focus on the assessment of many aspects of growth and development of these HIV exposed infants, as well as children and adolescents, who have acquired HIV infection.
