An authority on childhood cancers, Dr. Charles Rubin has been overseeing the care of children for 25 years. He is a strong believer in educating patients and their families--and in involving them in the decision process in a meaningful way. Dr. Rubin works to find every option for the patient, and then carefully chooses the best option for that patient.

Dr. Rubin has worked to uncover the genetic basis for cancer through laboratory research aimed at identifying and dissecting the chromosomal abnormalities that occur in childhood cancers. An active researcher, Dr. Rubin is involved in clinical trials for childhood cancer treatments. He has published numerous articles in top medical journals on his work in leukemia, lymphoma, retinoblastoma, and other diseases.

While he treats all childhood cancers, Dr. Rubin is especially interested in brain tumors, eye tumors (retinoblastoma), tumors occurring in children with genetic syndromes, and bone marrow transplantation.

Dr. Rubin collaborates with physicians around the nation through the Children’s Oncology Group, the Pediatric Blood and Bone Marrow Consortium, and the National Cancer Institute.
