Getting Ready for Surgery

Important Information

Please provide the surgeon's office with:

• Your primary care physician's name, address, phone number, and fax number
• Home care company contact information
• The name and number of your pharmacy

Pre-Surgical Appointments

Please be sure to take your child to any pre-surgery appointments your child's University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital surgeon schedules. If you fail to show up for these appointments, your child's surgery may be cancelled.

Before Your Child's Surgery

Please contact the surgeon's office in the morning the day before your child's surgery or procedure is scheduled to confirm the time and date.

Hospitalization

If your child will be hospitalized for surgery, you will receive a copy of the brochure Preparing for Your Child's Hospital Stay. Please read it carefully prior to arriving.
