The Location of Your Child's Surgery

Surgery and procedures take place in different areas. Most will take place in the following locations:

• Third floor University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital
• Special Procedures Area (SPA) in the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM)
• Cardiac catheterization lab on the third floor of the Chicago Comer Children's Hospital

Third Floor of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital

For all surgeries and procedures on the third floor of the hospital (with the exception of catheterization procedures), please enter Chicago Comer Children's Hospital through the main entrance and check in at the Security Desk. Before surgery, you may wait with your child in the pediatric pre-operative area located on the third floor.

SPA in the DCAM

For all surgeries and procedures in the DCAM:

• Please enter the DCAM through the main entrance.
• Take the elevator to the third floor and walk south to the Pediatric Specialty Center.
• Go to the registration desk to the left (3E) to check in.

Before surgery, you may wait with your child in the SPA area.

Cardiac Catheterization Procedure on the Third Floor of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital

For all catheterization procedures, please enter Chicago Comer Children's Hospital through the main entrance check in at the Security Desk. Before the cardiac catheterization, you may wait with your child in the pediatric pre-operative area located on the third floor.
