Obtaining Information During Your Child's Hospitalization

General Information

Boy coloring

You may obtain information about conveniences available in and around the Chicago Comer Children's Hospital as well as educational information on medical conditions similar to those of your child through our Family Learning Center on the first floor. Your child's nurse can show you how to obtain information.

Specific Information

For parents who want detailed medical information about their child, there are three ways to obtain it:

  • Nurse: Your child's nurse is available to give updates about your child's medical condition.
  • Morning Rounds: If you would like to be present when the physicians come to your child's room, ask your child's nurse to give you an approximate time when rounds will occur. Not all rounding occurs inside your child's room.
  • Physician: The physician caring for your child will make every effort to arrange a time to speak with you in person or by phone.

Access Code

To protect you family's right to privacy, patients and caregivers are given an access code. Only people who have this access code will be able to receive any updates about your child's health.

If needed, other special arrangements for obtaining information can be made.
